Indian weddings atRoyalton Riviera Cancún
Riviera Cancún, Mexico
A family all-inclusive on the coast between Cancún and Puerto Morelos, about fifteen minutes from the airport, reopened in December 2025 after a full renovation that added a new convention centre. Royalton sells its South Asian collection, Kohinoor, here and publishes the rules in detail, so you can plan against the real limits from the first call.
Why Couples Choose It
What this resort actually commits to
Kohinoor is sold at this resort
Royalton’s own weddings page for Riviera Cancún offers Kohinoor, its South Asian wedding packages, worked alongside a certified South Asian wedding planner. The package book covers a haldi on the beach, a mehndi and sangeet, and a ceremony with a mandap structure and sound for the priest.
An Indian menu you choose from
The Kohinoor book carries a pick-and-choose Indian menu for breakfast, the cocktail hour, a vegetable lunch and dinner, dal makhani included, served buffet or family style.
A ballroom that can run late
Outdoor private events end at 11pm, but the ballroom can run until two in the morning for an extra charge. A sangeet or a reception meant to go on has a room that lets it.
A fire ceremony has a route
Fire items cannot come from home, but Royalton’s policy lets them be rented through its approved vendors where the location allows. That is a written path to a havan, which most resorts do not publish at all.
Know This Before You Fall In Love
The published limits
Every venue has them. Most planners let you discover them at contract. We would rather you weighed them now, while changing your mind is free.
- Catering is in-house only: outside food and drink may not be brought in, and leftover food, cake included, may not leave the event area.
- Every private event except the ceremony must run an open bar for its full length.
- Outside décor companies and florists are not permitted. Your own photographer, videographer, DJ or hair and makeup artist pays a vendor fee per service, per day, waived only if they stay the required minimum. Drones are not allowed.
- Outdoor private events end at 11pm, which the resort calls non-negotiable. From May to November, beach events after 9pm can face noise and lighting limits for nesting turtles.
- Most of your guests must stay on the property: the resort requires 75% of the guest list to be in-house.
- The baraat is not published: the Kohinoor book says nothing on a route, a horse or dhol players. Not published, get it in writing.
One thing in its favour that is easy to miss: this resort takes all ages. Several highly rated properties in the same bracket are adults-only, which quietly rules them out for a wedding that travels with grandparents and small children in the same room block.
Before You Commit
What we get in writing for you
These are the questions that decide whether a wedding works at a property, and the answers change by resort and sometimes by venue within one resort. We put them to the wedding office and get them confirmed before you sign anything.
- The havan, in writing and by venue: which locations allow the approved fire items, and whether ghee is permitted.
- The baraat: route, drummers, and whether a horse can be arranged.
- Whether Jain, halal or no-onion-no-garlic menus can be prepared from the Kohinoor menus.
- Which renovated spaces hold each of your events, and the indoor backup for each outdoor one.
- Your room block terms, which are negotiated and not published.
Planning is free, and it stays free. We are paid by the resort on your guests' room block, which is why we can afford to tell you when a venue is wrong for you.
