Half Moon, Rose Hall, Montego Bay

Indian weddings atHalf Moon

Rose Hall, Montego Bay, Jamaica

Not an all-inclusive. Half Moon is a 400-acre estate in Rose Hall, about ten minutes from Montego Bay’s airport, with villas that come with their own cook and staff. It publishes no South Asian programme, so more of the wedding is yours to design here, and more of it has to be agreed in writing.

Why Couples Choose It

What this resort actually commits to

Ten minutes from the airport

Half Moon puts itself about ten minutes from Sangster International Airport. When the guest list runs from grandparents to toddlers arriving on different days, a short transfer is worth more than it sounds.

Villas that come with their own cook

Each of Half Moon’s villas has its own cook, housekeeper and butler, a private pool and several en-suite bedrooms. One villa can be the family’s house for the week: somewhere to dress, eat together and gather between events.

Indoor rooms as well as lawns and beaches

Alongside the Pavilion, with its lawn and lily-pond gazebo, the Great House Lawn and Sunrise Beach, Half Moon has a Conference Centre and smaller indoor rooms. A reception can be held indoors by choice, not only as a rain plan.

Horses on the estate

Half Moon runs its own equestrian centre, with beach rides among its activities. Whether one of its horses can lead a baraat is a question for the stables, and one worth asking early.

Know This Before You Fall In Love

The published limits

Every venue has them. Most planners let you discover them at contract. We would rather you weighed them now, while changing your mind is free.

  • Half Moon is not all-inclusive. Rooms are sold on their own and meal plans are optional, so how your guests’ food and drink is paid for needs deciding early.
  • It publishes no South Asian programme and no Indian restaurant, and its published wedding packages are built around a Western ceremony.
  • The resort closed after Hurricane Melissa and reopened in phases from 2 April 2026. Which rooms and which event spaces are open for your dates is the first thing we confirm.
  • Nothing is published about outside caterers, vendor fees or a music curfew, and the only fire mentioned anywhere is a beach bonfire.

One thing in its favour that is easy to miss: this resort takes all ages. Several highly rated properties in the same bracket are adults-only, which quietly rules them out for a wedding that travels with grandparents and small children in the same room block.

Before You Commit

What we get in writing for you

These are the questions that decide whether a wedding works at a property, and the answers change by resort and sometimes by venue within one resort. We put them to the wedding office and get them confirmed before you sign anything.

  • Whether an outside Indian caterer is allowed, and whether the villa cooks or the resort kitchen can cook a full Indian banquet, including Jain, halal or no-onion-no-garlic menus.
  • Open flame for the havan, in writing. A beach bonfire is on their own list of wedding activities; a havan under a mandap is a different request.
  • The baraat, and whether a horse from the equestrian centre can take part.
  • The music curfew, and which indoor room backs up each outdoor venue.
  • Your room block terms, which are negotiated and not published.

Planning is free, and it stays free. We are paid by the resort on your guests' room block, which is why we can afford to tell you when a venue is wrong for you.
