Dulha & Dulhan
Indian weddings atDreams Tulum
Tulum, Mexico
A family all-inclusive on the beach a few minutes from Tulum, set in gardens and colonial-style buildings. It is one of the Dreams resorts that sells Hyatt’s Dulha & Dulhan South Asian package, and its own wedding guide sets out a three-day, six-event Shaadi Package with chefs who specialise in Indian cuisine.
Why Couples Choose It
What this resort actually commits to
Dulha & Dulhan is sold here
Hyatt lists Dreams Tulum among the resorts offering its South Asian wedding package: a welcome cocktail party, a sangeet and mehndi, the baraat, a ceremony under a decorated mandap and the reception.
A Shaadi Package of six events
The resort’s 2024 wedding guide describes a Shaadi Package of six events over three days, built with décor suppliers and chefs who specialise in authentic Indian cuisine, and tailored with your on-site coordinator.
The baraat is a named event
The baraat has its own place in the package, with your on-site coordinator organising and directing the processional and the resort offering options for the groom’s entrance.
A garden that can dance until 3am
Outdoor events on the beach and pool terraces end at 11pm, but a reception in the Dreams Garden can run until 3am for an extra fee, and the ballroom’s hours can be extended too.
Know This Before You Fall In Love
The published limits
Every venue has them. Most planners let you discover them at contract. We would rather you weighed them now, while changing your mind is free.
- The resort’s guide says food and drink may not be brought in from outside suppliers, the couple, guests or a planner. An outside Indian caterer is not an option unless the hotel contracts it.
- Outside vendors are allowed but pay a fee per service, for each day they work. The amounts are in the guide; get the current ones in writing.
- Outdoor events on the beach and the pool terraces must end by 11:00 p.m.
- The resort hosts two or three weddings a day on average, so venues and times depend on availability.
- Open flame for a havan is not covered by anything the resort or Hyatt publishes. Not published, get it in writing.
One thing in its favour that is easy to miss: this resort takes all ages. Several highly rated properties in the same bracket are adults-only, which quietly rules them out for a wedding that travels with grandparents and small children in the same room block.
Before You Commit
What we get in writing for you
These are the questions that decide whether a wedding works at a property, and the answers change by resort and sometimes by venue within one resort. We put them to the wedding office and get them confirmed before you sign anything.
- The havan, in writing and by venue: whether a fire kund and ghee are allowed, and where.
- The baraat: the route, dhol players, and whether a horse can be arranged.
- Whether the hotel can contract an Indian caterer as one of its own suppliers, and what its chefs will cook for each event.
- The current outside-vendor fee for each photographer, decorator, DJ or makeup artist you bring.
- Your room block terms, which are negotiated and not published.
Planning is free, and it stays free. We are paid by the resort on your guests' room block, which is why we can afford to tell you when a venue is wrong for you.
