Getting Started

How far in advance should we start planning?

Twelve to eighteen months before the wedding is the sweet spot. It gives you the best choice of resorts and dates, time for guests to plan their trip, and room for the details of a multi-day celebration. Larger weddings and peak winter dates benefit from starting earlier. Nine to twelve months can still work, so if your date is closer than that, talk to us anyway.

We've never planned a destination wedding. Where do we start?

Start with a free consultation. It's a relaxed 30-minute call where we talk through your guest list, budget, ceremonies and the places you're drawn to, and you leave knowing what the next steps are. There's no cost and no commitment.

Can you help if we've already started planning?

Yes. Whether you already have a resort, just a date, or only a rough idea, we'll look at where you are, spot anything missing, and take over the coordination from there.

Do we need to be in Toronto to work with you?

No. The wedding happens abroad and the planning happens over video calls, shared documents and messages, so where you live makes no practical difference. We plan for couples across the Greater Toronto Area, including Brampton, Mississauga and Scarborough, and right across Canada, from Surrey and Vancouver to Calgary, Edmonton, Winnipeg and Montreal.

We live in the United States. Can you still plan our wedding?

Yes. The service is built around Canadian couples, which is why you'll see prices in CAD and Canadian departure cities. That's emphasis, not a restriction. The resorts and the planning are the same, and we're happy to quote in USD and plan around US airports. Just mention it when you get in touch.

Cost & How We're Paid

What does a South Asian destination wedding typically cost?

Our planning is free, so this is about your wedding budget, not a fee. We don't publish price ranges, because a range that fits one wedding misleads the next. Four things move the number: whether guests book their own rooms or you host them, the size of the guest list, how many events you hold over the weekend, and the resort and season you choose. Food, drink and room nights usually make up the largest part. On a free consultation we price your weekend against real resort quotes for your dates and your guest list.

What do we pay for, and who do we pay?

You pay for the wedding itself: rooms, venue, food and drink, décor, entertainment and travel. Those costs go to the resort and the other suppliers, never into a package from us, and our planning costs you nothing. We help you find, compare and negotiate every supplier, and you see a full itemized estimate in CAD before you commit to anything.

If planning is free, how do you make money?

Your guests' room bookings pay a commission, from the resort or from the tour operator they book through, and that commission is how we're paid. It's the standard model for destination weddings. Some resorts also pay a commission on the wedding package itself, and we'll tell you when that applies. There's no planning fee and no minimum guest count.

Guests & Travel

How do we manage guests flying in from Canada, India and elsewhere?

We set up and negotiate the room block, help guests book their flights and airport transfers, and give everyone a travel guide for the wedding. Your guests deal with one person the whole way through, so their questions don't bounce between you, the resort and a call centre.

Our family from India will need visas. Can you help?

Yes, and it's one of the first things we look at, because it can decide the destination. Jamaica needs no visa for Indian passport holders. Mexico, the Dominican Republic and the Bahamas usually do, unless the guest already holds a valid visa or residence for Canada, the US, the UK or the Schengen area, and each country words that exception differently. Rules change, so we check each guest's situation against official sources and build visa timelines into the plan. For complicated cases, we'll point you to a licensed immigration consultant.

What's the ideal guest count for a destination wedding?

There isn't one. Some families want everyone there, and others want thirty people they love. We plan weddings of every size, with no minimum guest count. What changes with size is which resorts fit: a smaller group suits a boutique property or a villa, and a large one needs ballroom space and a bigger room block.

Culture & Ceremony

Do you only plan Indian weddings?

No. We plan South Asian weddings in all their variety: Indian, Pakistani, Bangladeshi, Sri Lankan and Nepali families, Indo-Caribbean and East African Indian families, and couples bringing two cultures together. Hindu, Sikh, Muslim, Jain, Christian and interfaith, with one ceremony or two.

Can we have a Hindu ceremony with a havan at a resort?

Yes, with some planning. An open flame needs the resort's approval for the specific venue, so we confirm the havan before you choose. Some resorts only hold ceremonies during set hours, which matters if your muhurat falls early or late. Around Cancún and the Riviera Maya, pandits can often be found locally. In Punta Cana they're harder to find, so couples usually bring their own.

We're Sikh. How does the Anand Karaj work with a destination wedding?

Many Sikh families now hold the Anand Karaj at their gurdwara at home before they travel, then bring the mehndi, sangeet, jaggo and reception to the destination. The Akal Takht has directed that the Guru Granth Sahib is not taken to resorts or beaches, so we plan the destination celebrations around the date you set with your gurdwara.

Can you plan a nikah, halal food or an alcohol-free event?

Yes, where the resort can support it. Halal menus and alcohol-free events vary a lot from one resort to the next, so we get confirmation from the resort before you commit, rather than hoping it works out on the day.

Will our wedding be legally recognized in Canada?

It can be, but the paperwork depends on the destination. Some countries require you to arrive several days before the ceremony, and a religious ceremony isn't always a legal one there. Many couples keep it simple by signing a civil marriage in Canada and holding the full celebration abroad. We walk you through the requirements for your destination before you decide.

Food & Vendors

Can we have authentic Indian food at a resort?

Yes, but how depends on the resort. Some let outside South Asian caterers in. Others insist on their own kitchen, and a few of those have an Indian restaurant on site. We find out which before you commit, then brief the kitchen properly on everything from Jain and vegetarian needs to live chaat and tandoor stations.

Can we bring our own photographer, decorator or caterer?

It depends entirely on the resort. Some welcome outside vendors, often for a fee. Others only allow their own approved suppliers, photographers included. If you already have vendors in mind, tell us early, because it rules resorts in or out.

Working With Us

How will we stay in touch while planning?

Mostly on WhatsApp for quick questions, plus a video call every month to review progress. In the last three months those calls become weekly. Every document and quote lives in one shared folder, and you'll have a direct number for the wedding week.

Do you come to the wedding?

Yes, and it is worth being precise about who does what. Every resort assigns its own on-site wedding coordinator, and they run the operational side: the venues, the internal departments, the approved suppliers, the setups and the timeline. That is their job and they are good at it. We are there as your representative, so what was agreed months ago is what actually happens, and so you are not the one chasing anybody on your wedding morning. Some resorts limit what an outside planner may do, so we confirm exactly how it works at yours before you commit.
