A beachfront ceremony set for a Hindu wedding, the mandap facing the sea

About Shaadi Sands

Built for the wedding you are actually having

A boutique, founder-led studio for Canadian couples planning South Asian weddings in Mexico and the Caribbean. Planning is free, and there is no minimum guest count.

Why Shaadi Sands Exists

A South Asian wedding is not a beach wedding with more guests

It is a haldi and a mehndi, a sangeet, a baraat, a ceremony built around a sacred fire, a nikah or vows at an altar, and a reception, often across three days, for a family that spans generations. Most destination wedding advice is written for one ceremony and one dinner.

Shaadi Sands is built for the other kind. A Sikh Anand Karaj is not a Hindu ceremony with different music, and a mehndi is not a rehearsal dinner. We plan around the events you are actually having, and we start with the questions that decide whether a venue works.

We are a new, independent studio, small on purpose. You deal with the founder, not a call centre, and we would be honoured to make your wedding one of the first we bring to life.

Before Anything Else

Four questions a brochure never answers

Every resort looks beautiful in its photographs. Whether it can hold your wedding comes down to a handful of rules it rarely publishes, so these are the first things we ask, before you commit to anything.

  1. Havan kund laid with wood and incense on the mandap, before it is lit
    01

    Can the fire be lit?

A havan needs an open flame. Many resorts will only approve one in a contained kund, some only outdoors, and a ceremony moved inside for rain is often a different conversation entirely.

  2. Dessert table laid out for a sangeet
    02

    Who does the cooking?

Some resorts have Indian chefs in the kitchen, some allow an outside Indian caterer for a fee, and some allow neither. It shapes the menu more than any package does.

  3. Puja thali of brass vessels and offerings
    03

    Can your own people come?

Your pandit, your photographer, your décor and your dhol. Resorts charge for outside vendors in very different ways, and a few do not allow local vendors at all.

  4. Reception table set with red roses by the sea, string lights over the sweetheart stage behind
    04

    When does the music stop?

The sangeet, the baraat route and the reception all run into the resort’s noise rules and curfews. Far better to know before a date is held than after.

How It Works

One studio, one point of contact

A sweetheart table framed by florals, the sea directly behind
  1. 01

    A free conversation

Tell us about your families, your events and the feeling you want. The consultation is free, and so is the planning.

  2. 02

A shortlist built around your events

Resorts chosen for the ceremonies you are actually having rather than a generic top ten, with the rules that matter checked first.

  3. 03

    The answers before you commit

The fire, the caterer, your vendors, the curfew and the room-block terms, gathered from each resort before a deposit is paid.

  4. 04

    Your guests, looked after

We set up the room block and help every guest book, so their questions come to us rather than to you.

  5. 05

The resort’s coordinator is our job

Every resort assigns its own wedding coordinator for the day. Working with them, and with your vendors, is our job rather than yours, so you can be present at your own wedding.

The Honest Part

Why planning is free

Your guests’ room bookings pay a commission, from the resort or from the tour operator they book through, and that commission is how we are paid. It is the standard model for destination weddings, and it is why there is no planning fee and no minimum guest count.
