Grand Bávaro Princess, Bávaro, Punta Cana

Shaadi by the Sea

Indian weddings atGrand Bávaro Princess

Bávaro, Punta Cana, Dominican Republic

A large family all-inclusive on Bávaro beach, about thirty-five minutes from Punta Cana’s airport, with a South Asian wedding collection of its own. Princess’s Shaadi by the Sea package already has a mandap in it and a place set aside for the havan kund, which is further than most resorts in the Dominican Republic go in writing.

Why Couples Choose It

What this resort actually commits to

A South Asian package, not a Western one adapted

Shaadi by the Sea is written as a sequence of events: welcome cocktails, the ceremony, a cocktail hour and the reception, with a mandap and a gazebo or mandap dressed in the fabrics and colours you choose. You start from a South Asian plan rather than asking a Western package to stretch.

Space set aside for the havan kund

The package names a designated space for your religious items: the havan kund, the kalash and the diya. It is the clearest sign in the Dominican Republic that a resort has planned for the ceremony itself. Whether the fire can be lit, and where, is the question we put to them in writing.

A vegetarian menu and an Indian restaurant

The package includes a private buffet, indoors or outdoors, with a vegetarian option, and the resort lists an Indian restaurant among its own. Your guests are eating familiar food on the nights between the events, not only at the wedding.

Gardens for the baraat

Princess’s own writing on Hindu weddings names the tropical gardens at its Punta Cana hotels as a setting for the baraat, so the procession has somewhere to go that is not a car park.

Know This Before You Fall In Love

The published limits

Every venue has them. Most planners let you discover them at contract. We would rather you weighed them now, while changing your mind is free.

  • The package does not include a priest, so your pandit travels with you or is arranged separately.
  • Princess publishes nothing about outside caterers, outside-vendor fees or a music curfew for this resort.

One thing in its favour that is easy to miss: this resort takes all ages. Several highly rated properties in the same bracket are adults-only, which quietly rules them out for a wedding that travels with grandparents and small children in the same room block.

Before You Commit

What we get in writing for you

These are the questions that decide whether a wedding works at a property, and the answers change by resort and sometimes by venue within one resort. We put them to the wedding office and get them confirmed before you sign anything.

  • Open flame for the havan, in writing and by venue. Space for the kund is not the same as permission to light it.
  • Who cooks the Shaadi menus, and whether Jain, halal or no-onion-no-garlic menus can be prepared.
  • Whether your own photographer or décor team can come, and on what terms.
  • The music curfew at each venue, and the indoor backup for each outdoor one.
  • Your room block terms, which are negotiated and not published.

Planning is free, and it stays free. We are paid by the resort on your guests' room block, which is why we can afford to tell you when a venue is wrong for you.
