South Asian Wedding

Indian weddings atHyatt Ziva Cancún

Punta Cancún, Cancún, Mexico

An all-ages all-inclusive on the tip of Punta Cancún, the only resort in the area with the sea on three sides. It sells its own South Asian Wedding package, run by wedding specialists certified by the South Asian Wedding Institute, and a full three-day celebration has been photographed here from the mehndi to the reception.

Why Couples Choose It

What this resort actually commits to

A South Asian package of its own

The resort lists a South Asian Wedding package next to its standard ones, described as a multi-event wedding, traditional yet modern. It is the resort’s own offer, separate from Hyatt’s Dulha & Dulhan package.

Specialists certified in South Asian weddings

The resort says its wedding specialists are all certified by the South Asian Wedding Institute, and they are on site from the day you book until the day itself.

A full three-day celebration has been held here

A Cancún wedding photographer has written up a three-day South Asian wedding they shot at Hyatt Ziva Cancún: mehndi, pithi, baraat, Hindu ceremony, sangeet and reception, with the baraat, the ceremony and the sangeet on the same day.

Seven venues, a ballroom among them

The resort names seven wedding venues: Sahara Beach, the Cliff Gazebo, the Lighthouse Gazebo, the Punta Vista Terrace, the Sky Terrace, the Fire Pits and the Elements Ballroom. Each event of the weekend can have its own setting, and the ballroom is there if the weather turns.

Know This Before You Fall In Love

The published limits

Every venue has them. Most planners let you discover them at contract. We would rather you weighed them now, while changing your mind is free.

  • Hyatt Ziva Cancún is not on the participating list for Hyatt’s Dulha & Dulhan package. Its South Asian Wedding package is the resort’s own, and its inclusions are not published on the resort page.
  • Open flame for a havan is not mentioned anywhere the resort publishes. Not published, get it in writing.
  • Outside photographers are reported to be accepted if registered in advance with the wedding team. Other outside vendors and any fee are not published, get it in writing.
  • The music end time for each outdoor venue is not published by the resort. Not published, get it in writing.

One thing in its favour that is easy to miss: this resort takes all ages. Several highly rated properties in the same bracket are adults-only, which quietly rules them out for a wedding that travels with grandparents and small children in the same room block.

Before You Commit

What we get in writing for you

These are the questions that decide whether a wedding works at a property, and the answers change by resort and sometimes by venue within one resort. We put them to the wedding office and get them confirmed before you sign anything.

  • The havan, in writing and by venue: whether a fire kund and ghee are allowed, and where.
  • The baraat: the route, dhol and speakers, and whether a horse can be arranged.
  • Exactly what the South Asian Wedding package includes, event by event, and how Indian catering is handled.
  • Whether an outside Indian caterer may be brought in, and on what terms.
  • The music curfew for each venue, how late the ballroom can run, and your room block terms, which are negotiated and not published.

Planning is free, and it stays free. We are paid by the resort on your guests' room block, which is why we can afford to tell you when a venue is wrong for you.
