Indian weddings atGrand Palladium Riviera Maya

Kantenah, Mexico

A large all-inclusive complex on the Kantenah coast between Playa del Carmen and Tulum: the Colonial, Kantenah and Select White Sand hotels, with the adults-only TRS Yucatán beside them. It is one of only two places in Mexico where Palladium sells its Vivah South Asian wedding packages.

Why Couples Choose It

What this resort actually commits to

Vivah, written for South Asian weddings

Weddings by Palladium sells Vivah Essence and Vivah Legacy for Riviera Maya. The Legacy package runs a welcome celebration, a sangeet or garba night, a haldi and mehndi, the ceremony, a cocktail hour and the reception.

The baraat has a drummer on the list

Palladium’s South Asian Wedding Services for this complex promise baraat arrivals, and its Riviera Maya entertainment list includes a drummer for the baraat.

Chefs who cook South Asian food

Palladium says it has a team of chefs who specialise in South Asian cuisine and publishes a South Asian food tasting, so you can choose the menu before the week rather than on the night.

Receptions until midnight

The La Laguna and El Gran Azul venues and Playa Kantenah beach take a reception from 6pm until midnight, and a big complex means each event of the weekend can have its own setting.

Know This Before You Fall In Love

The published limits

Every venue has them. Most planners let you discover them at contract. We would rather you weighed them now, while changing your mind is free.

  • All food and drink on the property must be supplied and prepared by the hotel, so an outside Indian caterer is not an option.
  • Outside vendors pay a fee per service hired, which covers two people for one day. It can be waived for a photographer, videographer or hair and makeup artist who stays in your room block for at least three nights.
  • Outdoor sound is capped at 70 decibels, and beach and outdoor events have time limits that are shorter in turtle-nesting season at some hotels.
  • Palladium’s terms say fireworks, sky lanterns and fire shows are restricted at some hotels. A havan is not mentioned. Not published, get it in writing.
  • At least 80% of your guests must stay at the hotel where the wedding is held; the others need a pass.

One thing in its favour that is easy to miss: this resort takes all ages. Several highly rated properties in the same bracket are adults-only, which quietly rules them out for a wedding that travels with grandparents and small children in the same room block.

Before You Commit

What we get in writing for you

These are the questions that decide whether a wedding works at a property, and the answers change by resort and sometimes by venue within one resort. We put them to the wedding office and get them confirmed before you sign anything.

  • The havan, in writing: which venue, and whether a kund and ghee are allowed.
  • The baraat: route, timing, and whether a horse is possible, since only the drummer is listed.
  • Which of the complex’s hotels your guests stay in, since the 80% rule counts guests at the hotel hosting the wedding.
  • Whether Jain, halal or no-onion-no-garlic menus can be certified by the kitchen.
  • Your room block terms, which are negotiated and not published.

Planning is free, and it stays free. We are paid by the resort on your guests' room block, which is why we can afford to tell you when a venue is wrong for you.
